Large-scale projection transforms Maritime Museum.
The lights are on at Vivid Sydney 2026, and with them S1T2’s latest collaboration with leading First Nations artist Brian Robinson. Cosmic Chase is a large-scale animated projection that transforms the Maritime Museum roof into an exuberant story world.
From the depths of the sea to celestial constellations, ancient traditions to retro-futurist fantasy, the projection expands Robinson’s intricate visual language to spectacular scale.
Mythical beings, marine life and pop-culture icons collide in a playful mash-up of Robinson’s intricate linocut aesthetic and the bold colour of his sculptural work. All brought to life through S1T2’s creative direction and dynamic animation.
The power of the experience is built on unexpected contrasts: ancient yet futuristic, sacred yet playful, vast yet intricate. An experiment that collapses time and genre, and in doing so invites audiences to reimagine Indigenous art as evolving, expansive and unbounded by expectation.
Cosmic Chase forms a central element of Mythical Mashup: The Graphic Worlds of Brian Robinson, a celebration of artist Brian Robinson’s multi-media approach at the Maritime Museum. Running nightly throughout Vivid Sydney, from 22 May to 13 June 2026.
